Library Rules
Various library policies about code of conduct
The purpose of this and other public behavior policies at the Bloomfield Public Library is to ensure a safe, orderly, and comfortable atmosphere in which all library patrons may use the library's materials. General rules of behavior are designed to protect the rights of library patrons. Unacceptable behavior on the part of the public will result in loss of library privileges. Depending on the the severity of the offence, the library will revoke the right to use the library collections or computers.
- Eating or drinking is not permitted in the building.
- Smoking or the use of chewing tobacco is not permitted in the building.
- Littering or in any way vandalizing library property is not allowed.
- Any behavior disturbing or endangering other patrons or staff or damaging library property is not allowed.
- Appropriate apparel should be worn. Out of consideration for others, personal cleanliness is expected. Patrons whose body odor proves offensive will be asked to leave.
- Patrons are expected to use library's equipment in an equitable manner.
- Parents are responsible for the behavior and supervision of their children . Children under the age of eight should not be left unattended.
- Patrons are responsible for their personal property. Please do not leave items unattended.
- Please read and follow the rules for the use of the library's computers and printers posted.
The Library Director or Assistant Director may deny any patron the use of any library materials or equipment for violating the above rules. Patrons whose privileges' have been denied may have the decision reviewed by the board of Trustees.
